Our Mission
The Dinner Table Doc identifies as a college-readiness program and offers educational workshops, but the way we define college-readiness is different. We see ourselves as a program of future readiness, where each girl gains the confidence to understand herself, name her dream, and pursue it–whatever that dream may be–with compassionate and supportive resources and role models.
At The Dinner Table, our events are designed to empower and nurture young women of color in three core domains: Leadership, Self-Identity, and Health & Wellness. Through carefully crafted competencies and indicators, we guide our participants on a transformative journey of self-discovery and growth, equipping them with the skills and mindset needed to succeed in college, career, and life.
Our Impact
We support and engage with 150-200 students annually through school and community organization partnerships and events.
We are currently Department of Education Vendors in New York City, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Georgia, and Los Angeles, California public school systems.
Since the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, Dinner Table Doc has quickly pivoted to online programming. As a girl's empowerment program that originated in Brooklyn, Dinner Table Doc is familiar and sensitive to the unique needs of BIPOC girls living in urban areas. In addition to our in-school programs, our independent virtual programs service girls across 14 states and three countries.
